The selection of the best tourist villages was launched by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2021.
The purpose of launching such an event was to identify unknown villages around the world that have unique cultural, social and natural tourism indicators for the sustainable development of tourism in the village. For 2025, the village of Shafi Abad Shahdad was selected as a candidate for the best global tourist village, considering the tourism indicators that exist in this village. After going through various stages, the file of this village was completed and uploaded to the United Nations World Tourism Organization system.
